Community Hearings – 19 and 20 April 2011

The Panel held its first round of Community Hearings in Hobart on 19 April 2011 and in Launceston on 20 April 2011.

Community Hearings are a key part of the Panel’s evidence-gathering processes for the Review and are designed to provide interested members of the community with an opportunity to raise and discuss issues directly with Panel members in an open and transparent way.

The Panel Secretariat has prepared a Summary of Proceedings, which provides a high-level overview of the issues raised by participants across both sessions and explains the Panel’s general views and responses, including how various issues will figure in the Panel’s deliberations as the Review progresses.

Also provided below are slides from a short presentation delivered at the Hearings by the CEO of the Panel Secretariat, Mr Adrian Christian.

Several stakeholders have provided copies of the presentations that they made to the Panel and these are available to view via the links below. Please note that the views expressed in these presentations are those of their authors.

The Panel expects to hold another round of Community Hearings in relation to its Draft Report in November 2011.  However, the Panel will also accept submissions and information from interested members of the community at any stage of the Review process.
